A land of steppes, mountains and nomads, Mongolia is one of the largest, yet most sparsely populated countries in the world. Although the country struggled economically in the 1990s, in recent years its capital Ulaanbaatar has been undergoing rapid modernization, the latest sign of which is the opening of a new Louis Vuitton store on the city’s Sukhbaatar Square. To coincide with the launch, Louis Vuitton commissioned French artist Abdesslam Oulahbib to create a work fusing contemporary western music with the cultural traditions of Mongolia. Today NOWNESS presents an excerpt from the interactive work Resonance, which can be seen in full at www.louisvuitton.com/resonance.
