Launching last August, The Lake Radio is going from strength to strength, with a new app on the horizon and an 11-day programme of cutting-edge music and culture at Copenhagen jazz house in March. Highlights include London-born dub prankster Dean Blunt, a collaboration between Austrian sonic fog-maker Fennesz and Norwegian trumpeter Arve Henriksen, and the live demonstration on how to prepare and cook sheep’s brain, courtesy of Rene Redzepi’s MAD Symposium.
“The Lake started with a metaphor because we had this gigantic pool of music, which we’d been calling a lake,” says Rasmus Stolberg of Efterklang, who set up The Lake Radio with his fellow bandmates with artist Kasper Vang and radio journalist Jan Høgh Stricker. “Now we actually got a studio in Copenhagen with an amazing view over a lake. So the name is perfect.”
