Beloved of Damon Albarn and blown to haunting effect by 70s reggae legend Augustus Pablo, the melodica is not an instrument often encountered when walking down the street in Manhattan. That is unless you've bumped into Jon Batiste and Stay Human, leading a ‘second line’ – the name for the mass of dancers and revelers who follow the band (the first line) during Mardi Gras parades in their home town of New Orleans. Batiste has just lead this lot right out the front door of his 2014 concert at Webster Hall in New York's Bowery neighborhood with the Tribeca film festival team in pursuit. Now that's a proper encore.
