Chemical Brothers' "Go” features a rap by Q-Tip from classic early 90s crew A Tribe Called Quest, and it was the roots of old-school hip-hop that inspired Adam Smith and his co-director Marcus Lyall to produce this frenzied video, taken from The Chemical Brothers’ live show. “We were talking about the place of the roller disco in the history of hip-hop,” says Smith. “That was where a lot of those early 80s New York parties took place" This led the filmmakers to a contemporary scene in China and South Korea that combines speed roller-skating and dancing. “They lay out cones, do tricks and compete against each other, and then it gets judged,” continues Smith. “We found these amazing guys, Kim Sung Jin and JiHwan Do, and recreated the cones using powerful and very focused lights which we use in the live show to create geometric shapes. Our big idea is to push the concept of the screen and the lights being inextricably linked: the lights take the skater film from the screen and really project it into the audience.”

Born in the Echoes is released on July 24, 2015, and features the singles "Go" and "Sometimes I Feel So Deserted," and guest appearances from Q-Tip, St. Vincent, Beck, and more.
