There are few brands imbued with such an innate sense of “Englishness” as Temperley. Perhaps it was Alice Temperley’s upbringing on a cider farm in Somerset (with annual outings to Glastonbury festival down the road) that has set the tone for her lusted-after mix of girlish innocence and rock'n'roll attitude. This spring the brand takes inspiration from the latest crop of British style icons with the launch of Alice by Temperley, a line aimed at younger customers. “All eyes are on the young muses of London: Georgia Jagger, Daisy Lowe, Alexa Chung and others that breathe new life into the capital,”  Temperley says. “The collection is designed for girls like them!” While the spring collection focuses heavily on garden-party staples such as long broderie anglaise frocks, Breton stripes and polka-dotted shifts, fall sees Alice’s girl get a little tougher. For this latest collection, Temperley is channeling the golden age of British rock, with a midnight velvet jacket featuring wide lapels conjuring up a Performance-era Mick Jagger, and a deep denim jumpsuit with brass hardware paying homage to Marianne Faithful.
