Magnum, the legendary photography collective founded in 1947 by Robert Capa, Henri Cartier Bresson, George Rodger and David “Chim” Seymour, has covered war and peace, racial tensions, politicians and celebrities, the nuclear age and everything in between. The most important reportage photography of modern times, Magnum photographs are historical documents that transcend history—think of Stuart Franklin’s lone Tiananmen Square protestor, or Robert Capa’s falling soldier. On November 20, a new Magnum Gallery will open its doors in Paris on 13, rue de l’Abbaye in Saint Germain, with a first show focusing on the new generation of Magnum photographers.
