“I was awoken by the sound of a telephone ringing,” recalls teenage modeling sensation Lily McMenamy. “I picked it up and squeaked ‘Hello?’ On the other end I heard a sweet Aussie voice. Then I remembered where I was—and where I was supposed to be!” So started the day of the British model’s shoot with photographer Alex Franco for Australian fashion title Russh, played out in the bedrooms and corridors of St Martins Lane Hotel in her original hometown of London. The night before she had been out drinking vodka martinis with Juergen Teller, renowned for his naked portraits of Lily’s supermodel mother Kristen McMenamy, such as his 1996 cover of Süddeutsche Zeitung magazine. Franco’s candid vignette features its young subject lording it up in a bathrobe and is soundtracked by sultry Sydney garage pop trio Bloods. “I was jumping and singing on the bed in my Calvin’s and drowning myself in sweets and sweetness while we made this honeymooning video in which I got to play lover,” coos McMenamy. “It was the most idyllic hangover-healing day!”
