Two schoolgirls ponder the meaning of life as they perform the rigorous moves of the Dance Dance Revolution arcade game for a new video from London-based band Cheatahs, shot by director and friend of the band Federico Urdaneta. “I went round to Federico’s flat one night and we just quoted Nietzsche, Heidegger and Kant at each other while we chain smoked,” said Cheatah’s guitarist James Wignall of co-writing the darkly funny narrative with Urdaneta. With early props from The Guardian and Pitchfork, the latest Cheatahs sound marks a move into more experimental territory: “The new material is a big leap from the first record,” says Wignall.
