For the haunting "Out of Air" taken from May, the debut album from Broken Twin aka Majke Voss Romme, the Danish songwriter has paired up with Japanese photographer Daisuke Yokota, using the emerging photographer's dreamlike analogue images in a slideshow-style montage edited by Jonas Bang.
How would you describe the connection between your music and Daisuke Yokota's photography?
Broken Twin: I like the simplicity and the mystery of his photography and it seems to speak to me subconsciously. I don’t know how else to explain it. There’s a sense of resonance, I think that is key to any connection.
Film or photography?
BT: I really like both. Can’t I have both?
What are the top three videos you've seen on YouTube?
BT: I mostly listen to music or watch old live performances on YouTube. Or small clips of artists I admire. Here are three I like:
1. Odetta, “Waterboy.”
2. Ingmar Bergman on the relationship between an artist and his audience.
3. This clip from the Benjamin Smoke documentary.
