Bowmore, one of the oldest whisky distilleries in the world, collaborated with award-winning French director Thomas Vanz on this film that pays homage to the Bowmore Timeless Series—a new range of whiskies matured for 27 and 31 years.

Vanz visited the distillery in Islay, Scotland to better understand the whisky-making process then returned to his studio in Paris—his interstellar nursery for creativity—to formulate this artistic response. He also composed the dramatic soundtrack that gives this film its sense of scale.

Since 2014 Vanz has been telling tales about the history of the cosmos, collapsing stars, and forming galaxies through art. His work may appear like state-of-the-art digital renderings but he produces these astounding visual effects by filming raw materials, such as acrylic, ink, glycerine, and sand on a macro lens. Bowmore Timeless is the exciting result of an artist’s aesthetic vision of quantum theory and Bowmore’s intuitive understanding of time, defined by the past and savoured in the present.
