Freedom. Movement. The lust for liberty. These are the themes running through the campaign film for Saint Laurent Spring 19.
The brand's artistic director Anthony Vaccarello, who also shaped the mood and texture of the film, explains that the new Saint Laurent collection is "a silhouette created by a variety of pieces, inspired by different eras and timeless icons. Eclecticism is the freedom to build yourself, express your own personality, and respect your complexity."
Bringing these themes to life in this energetic new film showcasing Saint Laurent's latest collection, Paris-based director Nathalie Canguilhem, who is also a NOWNESS contributor, gives voice and style to a new generation—one driven by a desire to express themselves, and who always walk on the wild side.
Set in the Sicilian capital city of Palermo and environs, and taking place beneath bright skies and intimate interiors—from a sun-baked labyrinth to the plush grandiosity of an opulent townhouse—the movie captures not only the clothes themselves, but a generation liberated from coercion and censorship, celebrating a style that gives free reign to our instincts, whether sensual, elegant, or deliciously decadent.
