Melbourne-based director Josh Harris talks about his video for Sydney singer and producer Wishes’s track, Settle.
"I've always loved the characteristics and complexities of sign language. The use of facial expressions, hand shapes and movement make it a unique form of communication.
“Working closely with interpretive theatre Auslan Stage Left, I had the lyrics of the song translated into sign language. As Auslan—the sign of the Australian Deaf community—is its own distinctive language, the structure of sentences and grammar is quite different to other forms of English.
"This provided an interesting parallel, given that the song itself references the idea of miscommunication."
