Celebrating the 2009 Surfing America USA Championships at California’s Huntington Beach, we take a look back to the 70s, when the sport was associated with hippies, stoners and a lawless counterculture rather than megabucks and pro-sports. Bustin’ Down the Door is a documentary about a group of renegade surfers from Australia and South Africa who came to Oahu, Hawaii in 1975. Jeremy Gosch’s film follows six men as they storm the North Shore, enraging locals with their superior board skills and oceanic bravado.
