Artist, producer and founding member of genre-defining hip-hop act the Beastie Boys, Mike D unveils the "grown up theme park" he has curated for the second installment of digital interview site The Avant/Garde Diaries’ Transmission LA: AV Club festival, in director Joe Termini's new short. Held at The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA in Los Angeles, the multi-disciplinary and multi-sensory exhibition examines the intricate and ongoing dialogue between music and art. Combining work from 17 artists known for their experimentation with audio and visual elements, Transmission LA includes the likes of director Mike Mills, sculptor Tom Sachs and digital filmmaker Cory Arcangel. Established last year and held in Berlin, the first Avant/Garde Diaries event was curated by Raf Simons, recently appointed Artistic Director at Dior. Following Simons' forward-thinking approach to visual art and digital practice, Mike D’s edition continues the experimentation with diverse cultural references. AV Club is conceived as a fully immersive audience experience, with Mike D incorporating his obsession with gastronomy by inviting revered street-food chef Roy Choi to host an outdoor pop-up of his Bon Appétit Award-winning Kogi Korean BBQ restaurant at the prestigious contemporary art museum.

Avant/Garde Diaries Festival, Transmission LA: AV Club curated by Mike D is at The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA in Los Angeles until May 6.
