For many, photography is typified by Antonioni’s Blow Up: a lavish studio, bright lights and glossy images. However, the past 40 years of photography have been increasingly influenced by artists - including Nan Goldin and Wolfgang Tillmans - that work with natural light and everyday subjects to create wild, spontaneous images. SHOOT is a new book from Rizzoli, edited by Stephen Shore, Penny Martin and Tokion’s former editor Ken Miller, which collects more than 20 established and up-and-coming photographers who shoot from the hip. It launches tonight at the New Museum of Contemporary Art.
