The icy blue gaze of model Masha Voronina blinks its way through a succession of seasonal makeup looks in the latest installment of photographer Greg Kessler’s Macro-Morphosis beauty series. Following on from his flirty, interactive close-up on lips this summer, Kessler partnered with New York-based makeup artist Lottie Stannard once more, for part two of his animated, digital face mapping feature. Using a selection of eye shadow palettes from Shiseido, Nars, Make Up Forever and Chanel, Stannard colored Voronina’s eyes in all the colors of the turning leaves from early fall through to the first buds of spring. “They are bold looks,” says Stannard, “but really it’s as easy as putting on mascara, and it transforms your whole look. A lot of people are just scared to experiment, especially with eye color.” Besides collaborating with Kessler, Stannard recently finished working on V Magazine’s Powerhouse series doing makeup for model agency DNA’s heavy hitters, such as Amber Valetta, Linda Evangelista, and Natalia Vodianova. Working for major shows like Dior, Versace and Chanel, Stannard is a regular at fashion weeks around the world, where Kessler is also often spotted photographing the transformation of models from off-duty to ramp ready, for publications including T (the style magazine of The New York Times), Dossier Journal and his own blog, Go Backstage.
