French electronic duo The Blaze offer a cinematic tribute to rave culture in short film The Poem. Set to their track MADLY, taken from latest album Jungle, the self-produced and directed film continues the pair’s dedication to maintaining a cinematographic thread through their visuals, centering thirteen-year-old Liam, as he performs an emotionally charged poem reminiscing about his first rave. Encapsulating the sense of connection and unadulterated ecstasy found there, The Poem serves as a celebration of the transportive power of music and the spaces shaped by it – and how a free party can give way to a life-affirming experience.
Explaining their intentions and inspirations for the film, The Blaze shared, “We view the story from the teenager’s level. It’s an ode to festivals and all the freedom they give. Freedom for bodies to express themselves through dance, even trance. It’s a celebration of collective jubilation, a huge playground where the background sets the tempo, and where you can be yourself, and also fall in love.”
