British director and recent National Film and Television School graduate Brady Hood talks about his debut short, Sweet Maddie Stone:

“I was once given a treasured piece of advice: make a film for one person, because to make something universal you have to start somewhere specific. This film is for my sister.

“She and Maddie come from similar backgrounds, only unlike Maddie my sister was brave enough to walk away. I wanted to congratulate her for that. As Maddie’s story makes clear, it can’t have been easy. Then, of course, you dramatize the shit out of it and make it entertaining.”
