The sequined tailoring of Dolce & Gabbana’s triumphant spring 2010 menswear collection glistens against the sunrise in Belgian filmmaker and fashion photographer Pierre Debusschere’s new film for AnOther Man, featuring 23-year-old British actor Robert Sheehan (star of UK TV series Misfits and upcoming films Killing Bono and Season of the Witch). Conceiving the short movie as a “hyper-real” celebration of Dolce & Gabbana’s bold spring statements, Debusschere enjoyed hours of alchemic experimentation shooting in north London’s Spring Studios, where he and Sheehan got creative with sputtering firecrackers, smoke bombs, strobes, and brilliant, emerald-hued lasers. Phosphorescent and dramatic, the film is a fitting showcase for the shiny surfaces and grand Italian opulence of the clothes, which the designers describe as a manifestation of “extreme beauty.” Helping to set the otherworldly tone is an explosive instrumental soundtrack by Australian experimental rock band Pivot. The film is accompanied by a still photo story in the new AnOther Man, out March 18.
