British director Ian Robertson talks about his short film, Sheepo, which depicts the fast-paced life of a competitive sheep shearer:
“I find sheep shearing fascinating. It's a highly repetitive job that requires masses of physical and mental endurance, and the only way shearers can survive is by creating an unspoken, fiercely competitive atmosphere in the shearing stand.
“Mind games, one-upmanship and bravado are standard. In this sense perhaps it's like every workplace. I also wanted to make sheep shearing sexy, because that seemed like an unusual thing to do.”
