Iconic British photographer Rankin directs rule-breaking Ukrainian ballet dancer Sergei Polunin in this explosive new performance. Here, the veteran image-maker talks about his anarchic collaboration with dance's show-stealing rebel, which resulted in this all-out assault on the senses scored by UK art-rock trio Husky Loops:

“When I first saw Sergei perform, it was like being at a Rolling Stone’s gig. It was the most rock and roll thing I’d ever seen. Sergei exuded this energy and raw edge from every movement. I was constantly thinking, ‘How can I get this on camera?’

“My idea for the film was to let Sergei’s amazing balance of physical expression and internal angst loose, giving him as much freedom as possible. I wanted him to go crazy, focusing on emotion and to improvise as much as he wanted to. The performance grabs you and makes you feel something on a primal level, but it also makes you think. This is where art is at its most powerful.”
