Since meeting Louis Vuitton creative director Marc Jacobs, celebrity inker Scott Campbell has adorned the designer’s body with several quirky illustrations: a Simpsons version of himself, and two logos for the porn magazine Oui among them. The tattoos caught the eye of Louis Vuitton menswear designer Paul Helbers, who asked the artist to accessorize his runway models with temporary versions that riffed on the collection’s military and Asian inspirations. The alliance led to more lasting results: a print based on Chinese astrological symbols and LV’s iconic logo which appears on scarves, shirts and pants, and a line of men's carry-all bags embellished with layered laser-cut patterns that mine Asian tattoo motifs. As thanks for his sterling work, the luxury house created a bespoke trunk for the artist in which he transports his most valued possessions: needles, machines and ink.
