Director Samantha Casolari talks about Flex (aka Flexing), a dance style out of Brooklyn, and the Dream Ring team who are bringing it to a new level:
"The film was shot in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Bed-Stuy, where the majority of the Flexn Dream Ring crew is from. We shot on a really hot day at the end of August, and the title, Ophion, comes from the Greek word for 'serpent.'
"In Greek mythology, Ophion was a primordial serpentine god and husband of the Titan queen, Eurynome, who created him by dancing. They are both involved in the creation of the universe. The sensuous, wavy and serpentine movements of the dancers kept on bringing to my mind images of snakes, and they seem to resemble mythological or archetypal creatures occupied in mystical dances and fights."
