This August, 12,937 undead descended upon Mexico City’s Monument of the Revolution, propelled not by the desire for human flesh but by a determination to be part of the biggest recreation of Michael Jackson’s Thriller video ever known to man. This huge event, taking place on the day that would have marked the pop star’s 51st birthday, was led by impersonator Hector Jackson, who had got in touch with the events organizers and helped impart the song’s tricky routine to the public via a YouTube video. Today NOWNESS celebrates Mexico’s day of the dead with an overhead shot of the event’s zombie masses.
