When travel writer Bruce Chatwin traveled to Patagonia in the 70s he found a land rich with mythology and mystery. The resulting book, In Patagonia, became an instant classic, with its over-the-top tales of imposing landscapes, brutal tribesmen and legendary wild-westerners Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. More recently, photojournalist Mustafah Abdalaziz—who at the age of only 23 is already a contributor to The New York Times—found a similar vein of magic in the area, collecting images of the cowboys whose work has changed little since the first Patagonian ranches were built in the early 1900s.
