LA-based director Janicza Bravo discusses her film’s protagonist, played by Girls star Gaby Hoffmann, who is reaching out and reaching for extremes:

"My neighborhood is littered with lost-and-found postings: lost cat, lost watch, found parrot, found keys, and many more. My favorite sign was about a man who was stealing fruit. I was a little disturbed at how many things seem to be getting away from my neighbors.

"Pauline Alone is about a woman who tries to connect with people she’s never met. Pauline is a lot. She’s a mountain, she's limited, she isn’t socialized. She wasn’t given the tools that most of us were, so she comes off as erratic and unfortunate. She means well but ultimately she’s just too much."
