Devin Abrams, aka New Zealand-based producer Pacific Heights, explains how director Sam Peacocke reimagined the experience of memory in the video for his new track Buried by Burden:
“The perception of memories flowing through our minds is, for the most part, three-dimensional records of events past. Personally these records are always incomplete, distant duplicates of the real thing, damaged and warped by my own prejudice and by the repetitive cycles of hindsight.
"This project replicates the constantly decaying mechanism of memory by way of the techniques used to make it. No cameras were used at any stage in the production; instead low‐resolution, 3D models of environments were captured with an industrial laser scanner. Into these worlds we then placed the vocalist, Louis Baker; his likeness in motion was captured with a gaming interaction sensor, the X‐Box Kinect.”
