Modern Art Oxford is being transformed into a "teleportation station" and planetarium this month, when Polish artist Pawel Althamer and neighbours from his housing estate in Brodno will create a science-fiction film in real time. Dressed in golden jumpsuits, the group has already journeyed through Brazil and Africa, and arrived in Brussels this summer on a gold Boeing 737 designed by the artist. Toying with sci-fi conventions and turning reality on its head, they continue their social sculpture in Oxford, where visitors will be invited to take part in the work Althamer has named Common Task.
