Kazu Makino met Milanese twins Simone and Amedeo Pace in the early 90s, and together as Blonde Redhead they firmly established themselves at the core of Brooklyn’s music scene. Their first, self-titled record (named after a song by DNA) was critically acclaimed as complex no wave-inflected noise rock, but eight albums later their sound has evolved into dreamy, melodic electronica with this year’s release, Penny Sparkle. The album, a collaboration with Swedish producers Van Rivers and The Subliminal Kid, was named after a horse that resides at Makino’s stable in upstate New York. Here, exclusively for NOWNESS, the singer, guitarist and fashion icon shares her “I Love Everyone Equally” mix (available on iTunes here).
