Other than being named after the patron saint of lunatics, not much is known about Saint Christina. Today’s reveal of “Neon Sunrise” marks the first musical outing from the enigmatic British band with a euphoric video helmed by Douglas Hart.
“The idea was to have a head on collision between a 60s Bond title sequence and the psychedelic vibe of the Midnight Cowboy party scene,” says Hart, known for his genre-defining music videos for My Bloody Valentine, The Stone Roses and Primal Scream, as well being a founding member of The Jesus and Mary Chain and Sian Alice Group. “We met a couple of years ago in a studio in West London where I was working on a record. I heard what they were doing and really loved the sound. The music has a real cinematic feel to it.” Saint Christina worked closely with Hart on the visuals, and they’ve hinted at further music, film and live visual collaborations between themselves and Hart, coming soon.
