British Director Jay Green has assembled a mosaic of jarring visuals to accompany London-based musician Miles from Kinshasa’s forward-facing new release—a vibrant mix of 80s synth pop and Congolese rumba. Green’s visual anthology features segments from each of the tracks which appear on the R&B artist’s debut mini-album, also titled Limbo.
Miles from Kinshasa (real name Vivien Kongolo) came to London by way of the Parisian suburbs, where his native musical background fused with a truly diverse array of sonic influences—the result is this new album which has a distinctly diasporic sound.
Kongolo explains that ‘Limbo’ is not simply a title, but a theme which runs throughout his music as a whole: “Visually, limbo represents being stuck in a place of uncertainty. It’s not supposed to depict my reality, but rather a fragmented and fast-paced dream.”
