Described by Beat author Jack Kerouac as “the Happenings man”, Allan Kaprow made a career out of creating sparky moments that mixed life and art, often collaborating with friends such as John Cage and Robert Rauschenberg. To mark the opening of its first American gallery in 2009, Hauser & Wirth reinvented Kaprow’s Yard, one of the pieces that has lingered longest in the memories of his audiences from the early 60s.
