Winner of the Film Critics' Award at the Norwegian Short Film Festival, Sofia, Last Summer (Sofia, en sommar) follows Sofia as she navigates a summer alone in her childhood home. Sofia, delicately depicted by NY/ Oslo based actress Ines Høysæter Asserson, is struggling to connect with new people, and in the absence of her best friend, she spends a summer alone. Through a meeting with another outsider, Sofia can glimpse the summer light again.
“Loneliness is a theme I find myself exploring somehow, almost every time I make a film,” says Oslo based director Eivind Landsvik. “With this film, I wanted to explore also the upsides of solitude. The comfort of one’s own company is where you can find peace and time to think and reflect and enjoy the much-needed summer days of the short Norwegian summer. I also wanted to say something about having the privilege of choosing to be alone, and look at different forms of being an outsider”
