For his latest film, London-based director Aaron Christian, known for documenting fashion culture and his work for brands including Topman and Mr Porter, examines attitudes around natural black hairstyles in his native east London:

“This has been a project I’ve wanted to do for a while. The idea came to me while shooting at the various Fashion Weeks around the world. I noticed more and more young black guys and girls adopting a natural approach to styling their hair, in particular a movement towards dreadlocks. It was the style and confidence that initially drew me in.

“The movement was then documented exceptionally well in Return of the Rudeboy, an exhibition and book that highlighted the Rude Boy culture in Great Britain. It inspired me to dig a little deeper and discover why these individuals were choosing to express themselves in this way and find out where they thought it was heading.”
