“The word is how you see the object,” says American artist Lawrence Weiner, as he talks through his site-specific works installed at Blenheim Palace. It’s a theme that has underpinned the conceptualist's work since the beginning of his career—his 1968 book Statements describes works that were never made, suggesting art need only be read about to exist. Weiner has been filling spaces with his thought-provoking text for over five decades, exploring time, language and existence, and is motivated by the idea that art should be accessible to all.
Lawrence Weiner's Within a Realm of Distance is at Blenheim Palace until December 20.
