British singer-songwriter Laucan’s dreamy falsetto seems to echo past heartbreaks. For his latest emotive outpouring, the Lewes-born artist enlisted directors Oliver Jennings and James Heaphy, who uncovered the “intricate man-made patterns” present in the rural and urban landscapes of the UK’s Southeast. Here, Laucan talks about the drone-shot video they made together:

"The juxtaposition of environments is a recurring theme in my music, I find these collisions very inspiring. In the video, we wanted to play with texture and scale. I sourced a lot of the locations we shot and we featured places that resonated with me, the South Downs hill range being an important one.

“The images have the effect of removing you somewhat from your body and changing your perception of the surrounding environment. Somehow that feeling of floating outside of yourself resonates in the song, and the video's pace fits this. It's a good combination of realism and psychedelia."

Laucan's EP Up Tomorrow will be out on Sunday Best 10 March, 2017.
