Toronto-based performance artist Bridget Moser talks about her prop-filled new video, How Does It Feel:
“I had been spending a lot of time alone in hotel rooms in cities where I didn’t really know anyone. I was thinking about how these spaces are full of really good readymade props, very particular everyday objects that exist in hundreds of copies within the same building.
“As for additional props, I thought the motion scenery lamp (the picture frame with the moving skiers) was really stupid and really beautiful. The Titanic necklace and the Princess Diana ring are an unintentionally perfect jewellery set and also color coordinate with the lamp.
"I made the sweater to match: the idea came to be in a dream. I then found the perfect cross-stitch replica of The Blue Boy by Thomas Gainsborough, and a book about the founder of a chain of luxury hotels, which was perfect because his pose on the cover perfectly matches that of The Blue Boy.”
