In anticipation of Hotel Missoni’s Middle East debut, the boho-glam fashion house has created a series of whimsical animations. Today, NOWNESS premieres the first of five films tracing the journey of brand co-founder and creative director Rosita Missoni from the label’s birthplace in Milan to the burgeoning luxury metropolis of Kuwait. Traveling by air balloon, an illustrated Rosita and her husband Ottavio float over Milan’s Duomo and Rome’s Colosseum before collecting son Luca at St Peter’s Basilica and continuing eastward. The venture marks the brand’s second collaboration with the Rezidor Hotel Group (following its five-star Edinburgh residence), and is dotted with design pieces hand-picked by Missoni herself, which range from Philippe Starck’s Superarchimoon lamp to Hans Wegner’s Wishbone Chair. “Every piece of furniture is something I would choose for my home,” she notes. Awash with a beach-inspired palette and the brand's trademark exuberant patterns, the space capitalizes on its Salmiya seafront location with endless views of the Arabian coast.
