Amsterdam-based director Jeroen Houben talks about his film Home Suite Home, which follows an extraordinary day (and night) in the life of a longstanding hotel inspector:
“I’ve always been fascinated by hotels, especially the big ones. They’re each like a small village, a community of people that are there for only a couple of days. You’re sharing a building with all these strangers, and when you walk through the corridors in the middle of the night, you never know what you’ll find, who you’ll meet or what conversations you’ll pick up.
“It’s the mystery that inspires me. The idea of a person practically living in hotels, moving from one to another every night, seemed like fertile ground for an intriguing story.”
