In Keith Schofield’s surreal music video for Beck and Charlotte Gainsbourg’s "Heaven Can Wait," the cast and props include a giant rat, an astronaut with a pile of pancakes for a head and a man racing a flying axe. The premise was 50 scenes, "all completely different, and no shot ever repeating," explains Schofield, who has previously worked with The Notwist, Supergrass and CSS. "A lot of the scenes were inspired by found photos," he continues, "random pictures with no context." Beck rises to the occasion by sporting a variety of unique outfits all drawn from his personal wardrobe, while Gainsbourg—who won the prize for best actress at this year’s Cannes film festival for her performance in Lars von Trier’s Antichrist—seems charmingly unperturbed by all the madness.
