Known for his original approach to fashion photography—one that saw the product come second to the often-provocative but always sharp final image—late French photographer Guy Bourdin is the subject of a new exhibition, Guy Bourdin: The Portraits, at Le Studio des Acacias, Paris, presented by the Louise Alexander Gallery and curated by Shelly Verthime.

Tracing the influence of Surrealism on the icon’s work—from the likes of artists such as Man Ray, who mentored the photographer early on—the exhibition features over 100 works, including the titillating super-8 footage above, reinterpreted by Mike Figgis and with an original soundtrack, Waltz Bourdin, from composer Rosey Chan.
