Following her death in December 2022, Vivienne Westwood’s legacy has left its indelible imprint on her husband Andreas Kronthaler’s vision from the brand’s helm. Evolving from their long-standing design partnership – presented under the Andreas Kronthaler for Vivienne Westwood name since 2016 – Spring/Summer 2024 marked the first collection developed without Westwood’s involvement, with Kronthaler drawing direct inspiration from her personal wardrobe.

Committed to film for short documentary Getting There, director David Jenewein follows the Austrian designer and creative director over the final hours leading up to the Spring/Summer 2024 runway. Presenting a powerful tribute, constructed around the colossal task of archiving Westwood’s private collection, Kronthaler lays the foundations for the label’s next era, channeling her lasting influence and the deep reflections felt in the wake of her passing.

Moving from the streets of Paris, to final preparations at Pavillon Vendôme, Getting There captures candid moments among profound observations, the simmering energy tempered by a sense of loss. Sharing his means of processing, both creatively and in navigating grief, Kronthaler offers an intimate look at his private world through the fashion house’s inner workings – with Westwood’s presence still very much at its core.
