Catalan architect, educator, and curator Eva Franch i Gilabert—who was recently elected the first woman, and youngest director of London’s Architectural Association—is the focus of the inaugural episode of our new series, Design Futures, in which we profile luminaries talking about the issues that face the constructed world for the generations ahead.

While walking the streets of New York, Franch i Gilabert opens up about her role as an architectural educator and as director and chief curator of Manhattan-based Storefront for Art and Architecture, considering how we can allow for a multiplicity of voices in design while planning the spaces and buildings of tomorrow. For her, architecture isn’t just about big names and big buildings; it's about all kinds of social practices—from sitting around the kitchen table to how we ask questions of the universe.
