Victory Ebinum and Marvel Ebinum are a self-taught fraternal dance duo from Lagos, Nigeria. Having spent many years training on their own they have developed a unique and expressive skillset as choreographers, directors and dance teachers.
"Growing up as dancers in Nigeria was a hard one because our style wasn't really appreciated—not until recently," say the Ebinum brothers. "We trained on our own because there was nowhere to go and no one teach us."
This expressive take on The Cinematic Orchestra's hit song "To Build a Home" was released as part of a collaborative programme with Are Projects and Art Elsewhere called Deconstruction: Art and Ecology.
"We created our movement to tell a story of how nature brings us together," say the brothers, "watching the communication between wind and the water, including the trees, watching them speak without actually speaking, that's what we wanted to create with our movement...So, the whole piece is about togetherness."
