Filmmaker David Lynch and singer-songwriter Donovan have teamed up to create a haunting and mind-altering music video for the musician's song "I Am The Shaman," which first appeared on Donovan’s 2010 album, Ritual Groove.

Not only did David Lynch direct this surreal music video, which featurs intergalactic flourishes, cross-fade, and unsettling close-ups, but he also produced the music for the "unusual poetic song"—as described by Donovan, who was invited to record "I Am The Shaman" in Lynch's LA Studio.

Donovan wrote on his Facebook page: "He had asked me to only bring in a song just emerging, not anywhere near finished. We would see what happens. It happened! I composed extempore ... The verses came naturally. New chord patterns effortlessly appeared. On another day David sound sculpted my Ferrington acoustic guitar Kelly and he played his unique Modal Chord Ferrington Guitar textures with effects."

The music video ends with an appeal to raise funds to give Transcendental Meditation for students in Cork, Ireland; a cause that lies deep in both David Lynch and Donovan's hearts.

I Am The Shaman is an undoubtedly bizarre release, no less so for also occurring on Donovan's birthday, but it wouldn't be a David Lynch production without a touch of the uncanny.
