Since directing his first three short films between the ages of 20 and 23 – which he also wrote, produced, edited, cast and composed – English-Lebanese-Greek filmmaker Jim Longden has proved himself a prominent talent to watch, and the recipient of significant industry attention. Premiering on NOWNESS, To Erase A Cloud (2021), Don't Look At Me (2022) and Puddle of Muddles (2023) establish a unique oeuvre, capturing the quiet chaos and solitude of urban life, and the idiosyncratic vision that directs the North London native’s lens.
A self-proclaimed cinephile from an early age, Longden’s bedroom houses a vast collection of DVDs, film books, and cinema paraphernalia, collected through his youth and laying the foundations of his move into direction. Shot in a single day, friend and collaborator Ryan Kevin Doyle captures Longden in his home environment for a new Directors Talk, offering an intimate window into his world, his filmmaking, and the boundaries and health concerns he overcame during the making of his three films.
