Denai Moore’s “I Swore” is an ode to losing control, and the exhilarating insubordination of youth crystalized in director Ugo Mangin’s languid tale. The Jamaican-born, London-raised Moore’s recently released EP of the same name follows her club-tinged guest vocals on masked electronica maven SBTRKT’s "The Light," and was produced by Rodaidh McDonald, recognised for his work with King Krule, The xx, Bobby Womack. “I've always been into soulful, powerful voices but it was when I discovered folk music that I knew what kind of artist I wanted to be,” Moore says. “Folk music to me is what you've lived through.

Director Ugo Mangin centered the video’s narrative around a megalomaniac child, who thinks he’s an adult and desperately confronts his new reality head on. “In truth, he’s not doing anything special but in his mind, he’s sailing somewhere between Lord Byron and Mad Max,” says Mangin. “In reality, Dylan, who plays the main role, is pretty much like his character. Left alone on the set, he would fiddle with the camera or try to break part of the scenery. What strikes the most, though, is his presence. He needed my constant attention to stay focused, but I’m happy.”
