In an exploration of repetition and evolution, filmmaker Bertil Nilsson captures a riveting dance duet between choreographers and dancers Fukiko Takase and Mbulelo Ndaben, as part of the visual accompaniment to London and Berlin-based music producer Daniel Brandt’s track ‘Eternal Something’. Here, the director gives some insight into the process behind the movement:

“Fukiko and Mbulelo have a really exciting dynamic and each brings something very different to what they do. We worked collaboratively on how to visualize the movement in response to musical impulses. From that intuitive process, an ambiguous narrative arc was formed—starting in harmonious unison, and through growing tension, ending up revealing something a lot grittier.

"I used the mirrors to—quite literally—reflect the themes of repetition and recursion in the music and choreography. We worked with the distortions and imperfections in the reflective surfaces to visually explore the evolving relationship between the dancers, as well as to add to the overall raw feel I was after.”
