This film from Dutch photographer and director Desiree Dolron—originally screened in at GRIMM gallery space, New York—depicts an immense flock of digital starlings and the mesmerising shapes they form in the air. The artist, whose work is included in the collections of the Guggenheim in New York and Victoria and Albert Museum London, explores the singular beauty found in the natural world.

Dolron's animation amplifies the murmuring sound made by these flocks as they soar across the sky, giving the impression we are listening to human speech rather than the sound of thousands of beating wings.
