Shanghai-based director and photographer Marc Ressang talks about his latest film about buzkashi, the Central Asian horseback sport of "goat pulling":
“The sport sounds bizarre enough, but seeing it in person takes it to another level. Up to 500 riders converge, each with one main horse and one reserve. The air is thick with testosterone, and no female spectators can be found.
"Bystanders cheer at their own risk, as the field has no boundaries and riders with the goat can make a sudden run through the crowds to shake a competitor off their tail. Of course, this presents a challenge to anyone who wants to get up close and film as well.”
